A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE

As you know, I am retiring at the end of September after 41 years and 9 months in education, of which 36 years and 9 months were at our school and for the last 10 years as principal of Laerskool Voortrekker Eeufees.

 

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our parents for the trust you have placed in me over the years to be the principal of Laerskool Voortrekker Eeufees. It was truly a great privilege.

As a young teacher, I entered the profession with the dream of empowering and inspiring learners to be the best version of themselves and face a bright future. Little did I realize that they would also play a big role in my personal development by broadening my perspective on life and changing many of my views. I didn't just try to form them; they also shaped me into the person I am today. For this I am eternally grateful to the learners over the years.

 

It was a privilege to work with so many learners, and I consider myself extremely blessed to have been able to live out this vocation. My interaction with parents was positive, and I could always count on you to step in and help where needed. After all, your child is both of our biggest responsibilities, and their future is determined to a large extent by the cooperation between the parents and the school.

Change is the only constant in life, and over the years I have experienced many changes in education and at our school. It is never easy and often comes with tension and resistance, but your support has made it so much easier for me and the staff. 

​

I am also indebted to the various Governing Bodies and management teams who have assisted me over the years. Their involvement has always been characterized by positive contributions and a shared vision, of what is best for the learners of the school, rather than personal interest and enrichment. I am deeply grateful for the remarkable, visionary teams I have had the privilege of working with.

 

To every parent of Laerskool Voortrekker Eeufees, my sincere thanks and appreciation for the privilege of being able to serve as principal for ten years at a very unique and special school. My life has been immeasurably enriched by this period.

 

I conclude with the motto: "'A Happy Child, A Successful School", as my dream for the school in the years ahead.
